Some bands lean into chaos. Others try to control it. Intercourse has spent the better part of a decade doing both at the same time.
The Connecticut noise rock outfit has released a cover of “Violet” by Hole, recorded during sessions for their latest album How I Fell In Love With The Void, out now via Brutal Panda Records.
It is not a reinvention of the original so much as a confrontation with it. The band approaches the track with a mix of respect and self-awareness, acknowledging outright that some songs do not need to be improved. That tension carries through the performance. It feels deliberate, but not precious.
The cover arrives alongside a continued push behind How I Fell In Love With The Void, a record that leans into abrasive textures and a kind of controlled collapse. Across ten tracks, the band moves between noise rock, metallic hardcore, and slower, heavier passages that feel more suffocating than explosive.
Since forming in 2013, Intercourse has maintained a steady output, releasing new material at a pace that mirrors their live presence. There is a consistency to it, but not comfort. Each release seems more willing to sit in discomfort rather than resolve it.
That approach carries into their upcoming tour schedule. The band will appear on a series of U.S. dates this June alongside Chained To The Bottom Of The Ocean, followed by a U.K. run this fall supporting Eyehategod and Rwake.

Intercourse have never positioned themselves as easy to understand. That is part of the appeal. The music resists clean interpretation, and the band seems content to leave it that way.
