Jutes speaks about newest release:
“This is about the world crumbling around me and me needing a break from empathizing and taking on everyone’s pain by disassociating with someone else. “Sometimes you have sex to feel something and sometimes you have it to feel nothing.”

On March 25, 2026, Jutes released his first single of 2026, “Disassociate,” and it leaves the listener enticed and wanting more from the artist. “Disassociate” is the feeling of wanting that physical intimacy with someone to fill that fractured void, to have that moment of escape from the toxicity of the world around you. The narrator disguises survival with lust, leaving the single with vulnerability as well as leading the listener on a journey of illusion. The music video for “Disassociate” can be seen as metaphorical because there’s a sheep with an IV, which can indicate the purity of the animal, but the IV can represent dependence. The narrator is dependent on sex to avoid how terrible the world is, and they use sex as a distraction.
As the music video progresses, the lights in the video start to flicker, and it becomes more intense, which can represent the distortion of reality, and the internal struggle within yourself starting to unravel. And the two Dobermans start off as obedient and watching guard in a way, but towards the end of the song, the dogs become aggressive, which demonstrates the emotional instincts of survival. As a listener, you can look at the two dogs as emotional defense mechanisms, and when that mechanism starts to deteriorate, everything comes to the surface, which makes you do things to disassociate.
The vocals in “Disassociate” are suffocating and dramatize the lack of emotional capacity to be able to handle the world around them. The intensity of the instrumentation feels tight on your chest, which gives that feeling of being trapped, of wanting a release. Living in a world where everyone is being controlled like a marionette, which makes you feel like you lost your autonomy, but instead of dreading every day, you can disconnect and numb yourself in different ways that might not be the healthiest.
Jutes also signed to a new worldwide publishing deal and label extension with Position Music.
“It’s been a true pleasure working with Jutes and his manager, Mike Maloian, on the Dilworth album over the past year. It’s rare to find such a fully realized artist and team. Our decision at Position to double down through future masters and expand into publishing reflects our confidence in what’s ahead. I’m excited for the world to experience this next chapter; the music, visuals, and performances are aligning perfectly for what I believe is his best album to date.” – Joe Brooks, A&R at Position Music
