On April 2, 2026, Holding Absence released their new single since 2023, “Whisper of a Dream,” and announced they are officially signed to Sumerian Records. The single represents vulnerability that someone might experience through healing and how humanity can cause numbness. The music video is metaphorically strong because you can see a person with a television as their head, which demonstrates feeling disconnected from reality, and the narrator is becoming a vessel for that emotional disconnection instead of wanting to feel like a human. The title of the single, “Whisper of a Dream,” is a metaphor itself because it’s the fragile hope that you can escape the entrapment you are feeling and finally have a voice to break through.

The lyric that stood out, in my opinion, was “Being a human is more of a burden than I was hoping” because it can represent that humanity is overwhelming and emotionally exhausting.

“‘Whisper Of A Dream’ is our first song back in what feels like forever. After releasing our third record, ‘The Noble Art Of Self-Destruction’, it felt essential to step away for a while — to take stock and rediscover who we are as a band. ‘Whisper‘ felt like the perfect song to return with.
