On April 7, The Cabaret Sauvage welcomed Henry Moodie for a very special show! Indeed, it’s Henry Moodie’s birthday!!
After unveiling his debut album mood swings, we couldn’t wait to see him perform live!
Henry is a deeply moving artist; he takes the time to explain the meaning behind each song.
Henry is very close to his audience, who, incidentally, return the favour in style – they’re all wearing little hats to celebrate his birthday!
The fans were absolutely buzzing! He explains that mood swings is like a diary; in it, he recounts his fears, his insecurities, his life, his feelings, and so on. He talks about important subjects with a lot of honesty, and every transition between songs is perfect.

The setlist naturally includes some of the standout singles from his career, as well as all the new tracks from his latest album. These are powerful songs with real depth; I’m thinking in particular of “dear drew“ – a song he describes as the most personal on the album, as it tells the story of the day his school bully came to apologise, years after having bullied him.
He speaks with courage and conviction about growing up and how things have changed on both sides. At just 22 years old, literally, he tackles difficult subjects with great composure and remarkable maturity.
He also talks about accepting oneself, saying that at the end of the day, each of us is left alone with ourselves, and that sometimes you have to think of yourself and learn to love yourself. That’s the song “me, myself and i.“

He then moves on to a fantastic ABBA medley: “Dancing Queen,” then Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” finishing with “Steal My Gir” to the delight of his fans, who are obviously huge One Direction fans – Henry too.
Of course, the audience all broke into song when his sister burst onto the stage with a present and 22 candles. Attention to detail was also evident, as the cake featured the logo from his album as well as a swing, a nod to his pocket.
He rounded off a generous set, not forgetting to introduce his brilliant musicians, and finished with the song that changed his life, “drunk text,” joking with the line “April the 7th and nothing has changed.” He added, “Everything has changed, actually!”
He finished by saying that he’ll never forget this concert and just how much he loves Paris!
We’re already looking forward to seeing him on stage again.
