Raye’s sophomore album ‘This Music May Contain Hope’ is just that

On Friday, March 27, RAYE released her highly anticipated sophomore album, and it’s already available on streaming services worldwide. Since its release, I haven’t been able to stop listening – it’s absolutely captivating!

RAYE’s storytelling in this album is truly unmatched, bursting with pure, vivid creativity. It radiates so much optimism and hope, exactly what the world needs right now. To me, this album feels like a warm, uplifting hug from Raye, a much-needed embrace. Her masterful blend of pop, R&B, jazz, and orchestral sounds is nothing short of extraordinary. I am absolutely in awe of her artistry.

Let’s dive into the album itself. It features 17 songs arranged in such a perfect, breathtaking order that I can’t imagine it any other way. Every listen reveals a vivid story woven through the tracks, with each song’s meaning hitting even deeper each time. My absolute favorites are “I Know You’re Hurting,” “Life Boat,” and “Joy.” For myself, these three are my heavy hitters.

“I Know You’re Hurting” is about halfway into the album. The song talks about someone struggling with their mental health and reminds them not to give up on their life. Before the album was released, RAYE performed the song at Glastonbury 2025, and the audience gave it rave reviews. This song hit close to home for me. I cried when I first heard it. Following it up is “Life Boat,” and it brings a slow build to an upbeat melody. This song gives the listener hope not to give up during hard times. This song is exactly what the world needs right now, and I feel RAYE is just giving listeners a big hug while they listen. Lastly, “Joy” is a song towards the end of the album, and I love that it features RAYE’s sisters, Absolutely and Amma. It’s such a fun, upbeat song that’s contagious; by the end, you’re smiling and in a fantastic mood.

You can truly see the passion RAYE poured into this album, and it’s paying off big time! It recently soared to No. 1 on the U.K. charts. She’s also kicked off the U.S. leg of her tour with her sisters, Absolutely and Amma, opening for her — an exciting chapter for her fans!
