Acoustic versions showcase Youth Fountain’s depth – New LP on the horizon

I love acoustic versions. I’ve said this so many times and I will continue to say so. Youth Fountain is one of the bands that I didn’t full appreciate until I saw them open at a show, leaving me to wonder why I didn’t know about them sooner.

I listened to the original and acoustic versions of each song side by side, and I love both. However, there is a delicacy in the acoustic renditions that you don’t get with the originals, and I love it. This is especially true for the opening of “What Brings Tomorrow/Requiem” with the line of “It’s Always the Same Mundane.” The transition in this specific track is beautifully executed, since it’s listed together as a mashup in the acoustic version, whereas it’s split into two separate songs in the original. The slight pickup in the beat enhances the track without deterring from the gentle acoustic feel.

Side note: My cat who usually hates music, came to listen for a bit, so he might just prefer acoustic versions. He seemed to be vibing next to me—haha.

Another favorite track is “Twin Flame.” The emphasis on vocals in the acoustic version is stunning before it transitions into the guitar intro. I love the power in the vocals which contrasts beautifully with the guitar notes, creating a harmonious blend that works so well.

I could continue droning on about how much I love the EP, but I’ll leave my brief notes here so you can give it a listen yourself.

Mark those calendars for Stuck In My Own Hell LP, coming to you on April 25.

Youth Fountain is currently wrapping up a mini-tour, and with the release of this EP, we can hopefully expect a full tour very soon. At least, I hope so. I’d love for Youth Fountain to make their way back to me in Milwaukee.
