The Kinks celebrate 60 Years with The Journey – Part 3, out July 11 on BMG.

British rock legends The Kinks continue their 60th anniversary celebrations with the release of The Journey – Part 3, the final installment in their career-spanning anthology trilogy, arriving July 11 via BMG.

Following the acclaimed 2023 releases of The Journey – Part 1—featuring iconic tracks like You Really Got Me,” “Waterloo Sunset,” and “All Day and All of the Night”—and Part 2, which included hits like “Lola,” “Sunny Afternoon,” and “Everybody’s a Star (Starmaker),” the third and final volume explores a pivotal era in the band’s evolution: their RCA/Arista years from 1977 to 1984.

This transformative period marked The Kinks’ commercial breakthrough in the U.S., as they transitioned from their earlier pop and experimental roots to a sharper, more focused songwriting style—still uniquely British, but refined with a classic rock sensibility.

Curated by the band, The Journey – Part 3 is a two-disc set.

  • Disc 1 features 11 remastered tracks from this era, pulled from the original ¼” production master tapes. Standouts include “Come Dancing,” “Destroyer,” “Living on a Thin Line,” and more.
  • Disc 2 is a rare gem: a collection of previously unreleased live recordings from The Kinks’ electrifying Royal Albert Hall concert on July 11, 1993—a triumphant return to London following a U.S. arena tour. Discovered in the band’s Konk archive, the set includes dynamic performances of You Really Got Me,” “Till the End of the Day,” “Sunny Afternoon,” and others. Captured from a simple desk mix, the recording is raw and powerful—a testament to the band’s enduring energy and stage presence.

Reflecting on the show, Dave Davies called it “a high point achievement of The Kinks.” Taking place amid the rise of Britpop in the U.K., the performance served as a timely reminder of the band’s foundational influence—and their undeniable place in music history.

With The Journey – Part 3, The Kinks not only close out this celebratory series, but reaffirm their legacy as one of rock’s most essential and enduring acts.

Available on 2CD, 2LP, Digital and HD Digital formats. The physical formats contain track-by-track commentary by the band and new liner notes from Phil Alexander.
