Renowned superstar mgk returns with his latest single, “vampire diaries,” a dark, dancey track crafted with longtime collaborator Travis Barker. The release follows closely behind his summer hit “cliché,” and continues to build anticipation for his upcoming album, lost americana.
The official “vampire diaries” music video is set in a museum after hours where mgk roams and dances through exhibits. Directed by Sam Cahill, the video reunites him with choreographer Sean Bankhead, who also worked on “cliché.”
In preparation of his forthcoming album lost americana, set to release August 8th, MGK recently announced a save the date for his annual MGK day in Cleveland, Ohio— his hometown celebration that spans three days, featuring community events, live music, art, and more. MGK day 2025 will take place August 8th through August 10th.
It’s been an impressive summer for mgk. He recently performed at Nickelodeon’s Kid’s Choice Awards and TODAY Show’s Citi Concert Series. Earlier this summer, he dropped a stripped down “sad version” of “cliché,” showing his softer side, and once again blurring genre lines, something he’s become known for since the breakout success of his 2020 album Tickets to My Downfall. That project scored him his first No. 1 on the Billboard 200, with platinum singles “bloody valentine” and “my ex’s best friend” dominating the alternative charts. He followed it up with mainstream sellout, another chart-topping project that earned him a GRAMMY nod for Best Rock Album.
