2025 has been an explosive year for The All-American Rejects, and the release of their new single, “Eggshell Tap Dancer,” is no exception to their unstoppable momentum. Their new work continues the indie-leaning direction they explored with “Search Party.” The track blends their signature pop-rock sound with the sensibility of their new sound. Of the song, vocalist Tyson Ritter explains, “‘Eggshell Tap Dancer’ is about performing tenderness until your feet bleed. The character in the song is tiptoeing around someone who probably stopped listening three exits ago, but he’s still there — pulling rabbits out of hats, making balloon animals out of his own arteries. In the end, I think it’s a love song written for someone who’s just detached from the world and madly in love with obsession.”
The band toured arenas with The Jonas Brothers and is having what could be argued as the biggest year of their career yet. They’ve been teasing new music since the spring and have successfully reignited the fandom they captured in the 2000s, along with capturing a brand new generation of fans. “Easy Come, Easy Go,” their breakout single, powered their viral “House Party Tour.” This run became a bona fide cultural event and was covered by Nightline, CNN, FADER, Kerrang!, New York Magazine, NPR, and more. The song alone generated hundreds of millions of views and helped to push their discography past a billion plays on TikTok. This year has reignited their spot as a staple band of the 2000s. Their accomplishments this year include a performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! of their song “Easy Come, Easy Go,” a partnership with Indy 500 driver Conor Daly for the Music City Grand Prix, complete with a Rejects-wrapped car, and a full run of stadium dates with the Jonas Brothers.
Hearing “Move Along” for the first time when I was in elementary school is a core memory, and the resurgence of The All-American Rejects feels nostalgic and refreshing at the same time. Seeing their “House Party Tour” unfold online was so exciting, and seeing an iconic band do such intimate shows was amazing. I’ll never get over finding out about the show in my state a day too late.
