“The record is a tribute to my late father, jazz trumpeter Ron King. After releasing original music for the last 10 years with my band and other original projects I decided to honor my dad after his passing in 2021 with a record, under my own name, of completely reimagined and rearranged jazz tunes done in many different styles. Each song was chosen for its importance in our lives, or because it was a song we used to perform together. Lush Life is a nice handshake into what to expect from the rest of the record, it is brooding and moody but has a rock edge.
