On Monday, May 5, 2025, the lights of Broadway will burn a little brighter—not just with star power, but with purpose. “The Janice Jam: Broadway for Breast Cancer” returns to Sony Hall in New York City for an unforgettable evening of music, remembrance, and hope, benefitting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).
Founded by Matt DeAngelis (“Swept Away,” “Waitress,” “Hair”) in honor of his late mother Janice, who passed away from metastatic breast cancer in 2022, “The Janice Jam” harnesses the transformative power of theater to raise critical funds for research, uplift those currently fighting, and honor those who’ve been lost. What began as a personal tribute has grown into a powerful community celebration drawing together Broadway’s best and brightest.
With 100% of net proceeds supporting BCRF, this year’s lineup is a who’s who of stage and screen. Academy Award-winner Ariana DeBose, Tony Award-winners John Gallagher Jr. and Doug Wright, fan favorites Jeremy Jordan, Rebecca Naomi Jones, and Krysta Rodriguez (a breast cancer survivor herself), will join DeAngelis and more than 30 Broadway performers and guest speakers in a night of unforgettable performances and personal stories.
Musical direction will be led by Benjamin Rauhala (“Disney Princess: The Concert”), with an all-star band including Yair Evnine, Rich Mercurio, Lee Nadel, and Meg Toohey.
This year’s event will introduce the inaugural “Fighting Flamingo Award,” presented to Krysta Rodriguez for her courage in the face of breast cancer and her continued work advocating for awareness and a cure. Fellow survivors Sarrah Strimel Bentley (“An American in Paris”) and Kara Lindsay (“Newsies,” “Wicked”) will also be honored, as will Tami Eagle Bowling, a Stage IV thriver who will share her powerful journey on stage.
The concert will be preceded by a pre-show at 6:00 p.m., featuring performers like Hunter Brown, Lucy Werner, Chris Mann, Julia Hoffman, and more, with music and entertainment from DJ Choppy and STAGE TIME. Following the main event, attendees are invited to a festive after-party at Hurley’s, continuing the celebration late into the night.
More than just a concert, “The Janice Jam” is a movement—uniting Broadway, breast cancer advocates, survivors, families, and allies in a mission to turn the tide against metastatic breast cancer (MBC), the most advanced and incurable stage of the disease. An estimated 115 lives are lost each day to MBC, and research remains the most promising path to longer lives and, eventually, a cure.
The event is executive produced by DeAngelis and Bryan Campione, with support from a powerhouse team including Kim Blair, PJ Adzima, Katie Michelle Stahl, and more. Stage and media management is handled by Jen Ash, Alice M. Pollitt, and Rico LeBro, with media and PR support from Katie Rosin, Jillian Santella, and the Playbill editorial team, which will feature exclusive coverage, interviews, and donation links at Playbill.com/TheJaniceJam.
The night wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of Sony Hall, Hurley’s Saloon, and brand sponsors like Ritual Zero, High Noon Spirits, Pink Whitney, Misguided Spirits, and Clarins.
In Janice DeAngelis’ memory, and for millions impacted by breast cancer, “The Janice Jam” transforms grief into action and song into strength. It’s a vivid reminder of what makes Broadway more than entertainment—it’s a community. A family. A voice for change.
Join the movement. Celebrate, honor, and uplift. And most importantly—support the research that could one day save a life.
