Pop-punk duo girlfriends, consisting of Travis Mills and Nick Gross, recently dropped their third album, There Goes The Neighborhood, after a three year wait, it was worth it. The album title itself is reminiscent of a time when things used to be simpler, looking back on how things were, but now it alludes to how everyone has moved on.
The opening track, “Better Than Ever,” sets the tone perfectly with a punchy pop-punk anthem that reintroduces the duo after their break. It’s confident, in your face, and very true to the name. girlfriends is back and they are back and better than ever!
The album also features some standout collaborations that blend the new and old-school of the pop-punk scene. Goldfinger joins them on “Good Luck” and KennyHoopla on the track “Sugar in the Gas Tank.”
Each track on the album was about three minute long, which kept the pace of this 16-track album barely making it over the 40 minute mark. It’s fast, fun, and reminds us why girlfriends continues to stands out in the pop-punk revival!
