2025 is coming to an end, and what a year it has been for Yungblud! Between explosive concerts and an album, Idols, that continues to make an impression, the young Brit proves that he has no intention of slowing down.
But there’s more: at Christmas, he thrilled his fans with the announcement of a big surprise. And not just any surprise: a remix of “Zombie,” the hit that propelled him into the spotlight, this time in collaboration with the legendary Smashing Pumpkins.
For those unfamiliar with the band, The Smashing Pumpkins are one of the most iconic figures of ’90s alternative rock. Led by Billy Corgan, they invented a sound that was both powerful and melancholic, mixing grunge, dream pop, and distorted guitars, with cult albums such as Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. Seeing them cross paths with Yungblud is like witnessing the meeting of two generations of rockers who share the same rage and sensitivity.
But 2025 was more than just a successful year for Yungblud; it marked the beginning of a new cycle. This year, he had the opportunity to collaborate with his idols, from Aerosmith to Billy Idol, and you can sense that he is preparing to explore new artistic horizons. The remix of “Zombie” is not simply a return to a hit song; it opens the door to a new aesthetic, a new visual universe that we will discover in a brand new music video, which could well be a sign of things to come in the second part of Idols.
The video will be available tomorrow around 6 p.m., and it promises to bring a darker and more surprising vision, faithful to the raw energy and emotion that Yungblud puts into each of his projects. We can imagine Billy Corgan’s guitars undulating around Yungblud’s raspy voice, giving the song a new intensity and an almost mythical dimension.
Personally, I find this announcement fascinating. “Zombie” already had this ability to capture pain and emotion with simplicity; now, with this remix and new music video, it becomes a bridge between past and present, between two musical worlds and two generations, and marks the beginning of a new era for Yungblud.
2025 is ending on a high note, and 2026 promises to be even more daring: unexpected collaborations, a revamped aesthetic, and a sequel to Idols that could well turn everything we thought we knew about Yungblud’s universe upside down. For all fans, it’s a real Christmas gift—and a promise that the adventure is just beginning.
