On April 10, 2026, Nashville artist Jared Benjamin released his new haunting single “Drag Me Down,” which dissects the true intentions of others who pretend to support, but who linger in the dark waiting for you to fail. Those individuals follow you like a shadow, and you have to move through life knowing these types of people will always exist. “Drag Me Down” could also be seen as a song about the tension that’s created when a lover finally reaches their limit and when they are in that emotional state of distress; they are automatically seen as the person who caused all the underlying issues. The core of the track, with its steady atmospheric sound, delivers every lyric not in an explosive tone, but in a more subtle tone that feels like an internal confession of self-awareness, as well as the pressure of holding themselves accountable because they became someone that they never wanted to become.

Drag Me Down” evokes listeners with Jared’s vocal performance because it’s filled with frustration and authenticity that truly resembles the anger a person could experience with a lover who slowly became a faded memory.

“I wrote ‘Drag Me Down’ to make a statement to the people who talk and judge others. They will always be a part of life, but part of succeeding is rising above that noise, and telling them to f off along the way.” – Jared Benjamin

Jared Benjamin will embark on his ICARUS Tour on April 14, featuring special guest performances from Harrison Boe, Diana Thale, and Ryman Leon.
