On April 16, 2026, Taylor Felt released her new single “Vertigo,” which gives off nostalgic vibes that are perfect for those who love 2000’s pop music. Her vocals in the single are elegant, bright, and playful, feeding off of the glitchy, distorted pop sound. The single’s bouncy, atmospheric soundscape takes away the emotional instability of feeling confused about a certain person in your life, so what does Taylor do? She creates an entertaining and wild single that represents that even though a situation is becoming unhealthy, you can change that and create a better experience by making it more positive.
When you think of vertigo, you know it’s when an individual has dizzy spells that cause a disruption in their life at times. It’s the perfect song title because it represents the instability and also the excitement of wanting that situationship to work out, but it’s causing daily turmoil. Nothing is steady. One second you think everything is okay, but that can change quickly, and all of a sudden you are stumbling around wondering what you did to deserve this. “Vertigo” is intoxicating but also destructive at the same time, which this single tries to hide by being a pop song.
“‘VERTIGO’ is a song my younger self always dreamed of creating. The way it feels nostalgic and new at the same time is something I’ve always wanted to capture. After Coachella last year, I experienced vertigo for a few months. When I had a dizzy spell in the studio, we thought, why not turn these symptoms into a song? The metaphor is about the feeling of being uneasy in a confusing situationship, which stemmed from real experience.” – Taylor Felt
