Trixie Mattel and Bonnie McKee rework No Doubt’s Hella Good

Trixie Mattel is stepping further into her DJ era with a new release that leans fully into pop nostalgia, reworking No Doubt’s Hella Good alongside Bonnie McKee.

The track trades the original’s early 2000s edge for something more spacey and dancefloor-approved, with McKee’s vocals sitting front and center. It’s a straightforward idea that works because it doesn’t overcomplicate itself. Take a song people already know, shift the energy, and let it land in a new setting.

Trixie has been building toward this moment for a while. What started as a side lane has turned into a full-scale presence in dance music, driven by her “Solid Pink Disco” shows and a steady stream of reimagined tracks that don’t take themselves too seriously but still hit where they need to.

The release also sets the stage for her upcoming “Super Disco” concept, a larger-scale live show built around a retro futuristic, sci-fi narrative. It’s a step up in both production and ambition, pulling from disco, funk, and house while layering in a visual identity that feels more like a full experience than a standard DJ set.

Festival stops are already locked in across the summer, including appearances at Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Lightning in a Bottle, Outside Lands, and more. The focus is clear: bigger stages, bigger production, and a version of the project that can hold its own in that environment.

“Hella Good,” featuring Bonnie McKee, is available now, giving a preview of where Trixie’s DJ sets are heading as festival season ramps up.
