Nathaniel Rateliff is set to return to Red Rocks Amphitheatre on August 18 for a special performance alongside the Colorado Symphony.
The Red Rocks show brings together two forces that already carry weight on their own. Rateliff’s catalog, built on soul, folk, and rock influences, paired with full orchestral arrangements in a setting that doesn’t need much help – if any at all – feeling cinematic.
The performance will feature selections from Rateliff’s own work alongside interpretations of songs from Leonard Cohen and Harry Nilsson’s A Little Touch of Schmilsson in the Night, adding a different dimension to a night that’s already set up to feel distinct from a standard headline show.
It’s not the first time Rateliff has taken on Red Rocks, but the addition of the Colorado Symphony shifts the scale. The venue’s natural acoustics and atmosphere already lend themselves to larger arrangements, and this format leans into that instead of fighting against it.
For a venue known for hosting moments that feel a little bigger than a typical tour stop, this one fits naturally into that category without needing to overstate it.
