On April 24, 2026– New York based harpist Stephanie Babirak released her new single “Waterline” that represents the emotional depth of dealing with individuals who may be all smiles, but underneath they have an ugly soul that portrays a different side of them. There’s truth and concealment that sometimes we tend to turn a blind eye because we believe people care about us. The way Stephanie uses the harp in the single can be seen as a voice instead of an instrument. There’s such fragility to it and as the song progresses; the harp is almost hypnotic mixed with the ethereal vocals of Stephanie that it feels like a flower is ready to blossom.
The artist will be releasing her sophomore album Rotten Fruit on June 12
“Waterline is the most harp-forward track on this album. It came from being told one thing and experiencing something totally different: people saying that you’re close, that you matter to them, and then acting in ways that really don’t line up with that. There are a lot of time signature changes throughout the song that are meant to musically portray disconnect. The song is about recognizing that disconnect as hypocrisy and choosing to walk away.” – Stephanie Babirak
