The Home Team proves they’re “Worthy” on the Kinda Hard Tour

Saturday, April 25, brought the “Kinda Hard Tour” to the Boeing Center at Tech Port in San Antonio, Texas, with Bilmuri at the helm and support from The Home Team and Gang!. While the night offered a stacked lineup from top to bottom, The Home Team delivered a set that felt just as anticipated as the headliner. Having caught them on their sold-out “Crucible of Life Tour” in November, I was especially excited to see how their performance would translate to a larger mixed crowd, and it didn’t take long for that question to be answered.

Hailing from Seattle, The Home Team has been riding a wave of momentum following the release of their third full-length album, The Crucible of Life, which dropped in July 2024, with a deluxe edition arriving in June 2025. Their 12-song set leaned heavily into that material, blending newer tracks with fan favorites from their sophomore release, Slow Bloom. They kicked off their set with “Hell” and the room erupted. Crowd surfers were already making their way forward within minutes, and the energy never dipped from there. Songs like “Brag,” “Right Through Me,” and “Slow Bloom” kept the pace relentless, while “Watching All Your Friends Get Rich” turned the entire floor into a sea of jumping bodies. That particular song was a highlight of the night for many, myself included, as it was just plain fun, the kind of moment where you let everything go and just let yourself be part of it.

Frontman Brian Butcher commanded the stage with an impressive charisma. There’s a confidence to his performance that pulls you in instantly. At one point, someone near me laughed and said they felt like they were being “seduced and dirty talked in song the whole set,” which got a laugh because it rang true for many. Butcher walked that line effortlessly, keeping things playful and engaging while letting the music do most of the talking. Behind him, the band matched that presence with nonstop movement, hitting synchronized jumps, spins, and high kicks that made it impossible to look away for even a second.

Tracks like “Overtime,” “Somebody Else’s Face,” and “Walk This World With Me” added some variety without sacrificing momentum, showing off the range within their “heavy pop” sound. Before wrapping up, frontman Brian Butcher took a moment to reflect on the band’s journey, grinding as a local band for year before making it to stages like these. He expressed his genuine gratitude to the fans and to Bilmuri for bringing them along for the ride, while encouraging everyone in the room with a dream to stick with it and see it through. By the time they closed with “Worthy,” one of their biggest hits from the deluxe edition of The Crucible of Life, it was clear they had won over anyone who walked in unfamiliar.

In a tour packed with talent, The Home Team didn’t just hold their own, but reinforced why they’ve been finding so much success on their own and leaving little doubt that their upward trajectory isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

Catching Bilmuri on the “Kinda Hard Tour?” Make sure to arrive early enough to catch The Home Team! You will not be disappointed. The first leg of the “Kinda Hard Tour” is currently making its way across the US before it wraps in Boston on May 17th. The Home Team is also set to appear on multiple festival lineups this summer, including Sam Dunk Festival, Vans Warped Tour Mexico, and Louder Than Life before they take “The Crucible of Life Tour” overseas in the fall. Tickets can be purchased here.
