On April 17, 2026, Pennsylvania rock band American Vanity dropped their single “whenufall,” offering another preview of their debut album 17, out July 17.
Co-written with producer Matt Squire, the track leans into a darker, emotional tone, focusing on the frustration of always showing up for someone who won’t do the same. Virginia Franks and Luke Vanchure trade vocals, blending smooth and gritty tones before coming together on a chorus that hits. The stripped-back production lets the emotion in their voices take center stage.
The band described the song as capturing the exhaustion of always being the dependable one, and that feeling comes through clearly. It’s honest without feeling overworked – and overall, they’re just a really solid band.
Their debut album, 17, is an emotional alt-rock release that explores identity, relationships, and the balance between connection and self-preservation. It moves between higher-energy tracks like “Lifeline” and heavier moments like “Kill To Feel,” giving it a strong mix of energy and vulnerability.
