On May 1, 2026, Mayday Parade released “Blame It On The Youth,” which is part of the band’s third installment of their three-part album trilogy that’s celebrating the band’s 20th anniversary. “Blame It On The Youth” has an official music video as well that has clips of youth living carefree and having fun. This single is a reflective piece that represents how chaotic teenage life was before becoming an adult. It’s looking back at the bad decisions you made, but at the same time, that’s when everything felt “real.” It’s about surviving and understanding yourself through all aspects of your life and that certain decisions you made when you were younger helped you realize that type of fun won’t last forever, but at that moment, it felt like it would.
“Jake came in with this amazing song that we were all drawn to. We knew instantly it was important to get the track right but we really just had a solid chorus and loose verse melodies so the band quickly got to work constructing multiple versions of lyrics to finish the track. We worked together in a way that was truly collaborative and with the process feel we created something we are all super proud of.” – Brooks Betts, Guitarist
