Taylor Acorn at Strom, Munich

Taylor Acorn finally made it back to Europe for a headline tour, following her tour opening for All Time Low earlier this year. With it being two years since I last saw Taylor, then in Nashville, I was excited to finally be able to catch one of her shows in Europe!

The show started off with “Poster Child,” the high-energy title track from her latest album, which immediately set the tone for the show and got the crowd going from the start. The show continued with high energy with songs such as “Coma,” “Goodbye, Good Riddance,” “Certified Depressant,” and “Greener.” Taylor mentioned that she had been fighting a sickness for the last few shows, but that did not stop her from still delivering a great performance!

The show also had a few slower, acoustic moments with songs like “Burning House,” “Home Videos,” and “Birds Still Sing” as the last song before the encore. Always nice with a change of pace during shows, and even though they might be slower moments, they are not any less powerful. She has such a good vocal range that really takes these songs up another level live.

After a quick break, they were back for the encore with Shapeshifting” and “Psycho,” probably her most well-known songs. This was a great way to close out the show, going out with no less energy than it started!

Opening band Wilt, who were also the opening band on the U.S. leg of this tour, was a great fit! It’s always nice when the opener has the right energy and music style to go along with the headliner. I feel that definitely makes for a more engaged and excited crowd, rather than a crowd that’s just waiting for the opener to be over.

They performed a good selection of their own catalogue, including songs like “nothing special,” “bad seed,” “she wants me too,” and their newest release “gwen.” Along with their own songs, they also added a cover of “All the Things She Said” by T.A.T.U, with their own twist to it, which was so good and the crowd seemed to be excited for that one!
