Honey Revenge speaks on toxic friendships with new release, “Run Your Mouth”

Honey Revenge is back, more colorful and as energetic as ever with their latest single, “Run Your Mouth.” This duo features Devin Papadol on vocals and Donny Lloyd on guitar — these two are such an amazing group to witness live. Like a lot of bands I’ve seen over the past couple of years, I’ve watched skyrocket in popularity. I saw them play at The X-Ray Arcade opening for The Home Team, and since then, I’ve seen the name Honey Revenge plastered everywhere I go — we love to see it.

This new single touches on the topic of toxic friendships, which I’m sure everyone has experienced at some point in their life, or even maybe been the person once. This group is not afraid to speak their mind and write the truth, even if it’s a taboo topic. Toxic friendships aren’t always spoken about because sometimes we’re told to be the bigger person or hold our tongue, but at what expense of our own? Does that mean we have to endure the toxicity? I’m not even referring to just someone who makes horrible decisions, and you get roped in all the time, this includes the narcissists, the gossips, the two-faced people, the list goes on.

Honey Revenge writes the theme song for how to deal with these types of relationships. Honestly, not even just for those “friends,” there are just those people you meet who don’t know when to stop talking, even if it’s not about themselves, the name droppers, the braggarts. It’s catchy, and the song is going to be stuck in my head for a really long time now. I especially like the line, “with my fingers in my ears going ‘la, la-la-la-la-la’” especially the way that Papadol sings it. Her voice is so beautiful, melodic, and vibrant — I cannot wait to see what these two cook up next.

Catch them on tour, headlining the Summer School Tour starting next month, and then they’ll be playing at all three Warped Tour locations as well. They’re probably coming to a city near you, and you should go grab a ticket to scream along to their music.
