Pleasure Pill has released their new EP “ALIVE,” out now via Quiet Panic. The four-track release finds the San Diego indie rock band sharpening their sound while leaning into Britpop melody, groove-heavy songwriting, and a dose of psychedelic haze.
The EP arrives with a sound that feels both familiar and newly focused. Pleasure Pill draws from British pop and rock traditions, pulling from the sweep of the ’60s invasion through the swagger and color of ’90s acts like Primal Scream and The Stone Roses. The result is not a museum piece, thankfully. Nobody needs another band treating vintage references like sacred furniture. “ALIVE” uses those influences as fuel instead of a costume.
Formed in 2021 by brothers Jonah and Ethan Paz alongside friends from San Diego’s underground scene, Pleasure Pill has steadily grown from DIY shows into a band earning wider attention. Earlier releases like “Wonder How” and the live album Heaven Can Wait, recorded during a New York residency, helped introduce the band’s mix of melody, attitude, and looseness to a growing audience.
The band also released a video for “Feel Alive,” giving the EP one of its clearest visual anchors. The track’s title fits the broader shape of the project, which moves between restless reflection, open-air melody, and the feeling of a band stretching outward without losing its core identity.
Despite early interest from major labels, Pleasure Pill has continued developing independently, building its sound on its own terms. “ALIVE” reflects that approach. It is compact, confident, and direct, but still leaves enough haze around the edges to feel lived-in.
Alive is available now on all major streaming platforms. A limited translucent yellow lathe-cut vinyl edition is also available through Quiet Panic.
