Almost everyone knows that it’s been a busy couple of months for world-renowned Latin hip-hop musician Bad Bunny. Just back in February, Martinez-Ocasio put on a historic performance at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Not only did it become the most-watched Halftime Show ever, but it also spurred national discussion and became a totem of optimism for many communities across America.
Once again, Bad Bunny is in the limelight after his appearance at the 2026 Met Gala – the star’s fifth consecutive one. This year’s theme was “Costume Art,” and it’s safe to say that the celebs and their teams went all out. Sabrina Carpenter was adorned in Dior, the bodice comprised of black and white film strips from the 1954 film “Sabrina.” Hudson Williams looked like he walked out of a Spanish matador painting, clad in Balenciaga. Despite the event buzzing with incredible looks, no one came out just quite as distinguished as Bad Bunny. He arrived unrecognizable; his entire body and outfit were carefully curated to be a mortal art installation.

The precision and skill behind this look was accomplished by acclaimed makeup artist Mike Marino, who has done work in movies such as “The Batman” and “A Different Man.” The hyper-realistic prosthetic was created thoughtfully and with accuracy in mind- Marino had discussions with Benito about what he may look like in 50 years, how the passage of time may alter his face, neck, and hands. The result has a purpose akin to an artwork you’d see on display in a museum: it is meant to make you think, and to encourage inward reflection.
Benito’s all-black tuxedo was his own design and was brought to life in collaboration with Zara. His oversized bow was a reference to the 1947 Charles James’ piece “Bustle,” which is a part of the Costume Institute’s personal collection. The look was tied together with Cartier jewelry, which included another thoughtful accessory: a 1995 archival watch.

Marino and Benito created such a wonderful and conceptually ambitious look for this year’s Met Gala- and we are eager to see what Bad Bunny does next with this plethora of momentum he’s been saving up.
