Cigarettes After Sex return with bright new single “Twizzler” following coachella cameo with Karol G

Cigarettes After Sex are rewriting their own rulebook today with the release of “Twizzler,” a surprisingly bright and upbeat new single out now via Partisan Records. Compared to the band’s usual dreamy and melancholic sound, the track feels noticeably lighter and more upbeat. It follows their 2025 release “Anna Karenina,” which earlier this year also received a physical 7″ vinyl edition.

The song has already started gaining attention online, with early support coming from outlets such as FLOOD, Genius, NME Japan, CLASH, The Line of Best Fit, and Northern Transmissions, following its premiere on KROQ.

A Massive Year of Milestones

The release of “Twizzler” comes on the heels of a historic streaming streak of the trio, consisting of Greg Gonzales (guitar/vocals), Jacob Tomsky (drums), and Randall Miller (bass). Cigarettes After Sex recently cracked the Top 200 most-listened-to artists on Spotify, currently sitting at about 30 million monthly listeners.

Even more impressive is their introduction into an incredible elite club of musical icons:

  • The Billion-Stream Club: Within a single five-day stretch, their tracks “Cry“, “Sunsetz” and “K.” all surpassed 1 Billion Streams on Spotify
  • Historic Company: With those additions alongside their mega-hit “Apocalypse,” which just cleared 2 billion streams, they are now one of only 11 bands in history, alongside legends like Fleetwood Mac, AC/DC, and Queen, to have four or more songs cross the one-billion-stream threshold

Their 2017 self-titled debut album is currently the 128th most-streamed album of all time on Spotify, boasting a platinum certification in the U.S., double platinum in France and Poland, and selling over 2 million copies globally. Across their three studio albums, the band has sold 3.2 million records in the U.S. alone.

From the Coachella Stage to the Studio

The new music drops just a month after frontman Greg Gonzalez surprised fans at Coachella 2026. Gonzalez took the stage with Latin global superstar Karol G to perform an unreleased collaborative track titled Después de ti”. Gonzalez recently lifted the veil on how that unexpected crossover came to be in a feature interview with Playboy.

The band is also fresh off their massive “X’s” world tour, which saw them sell upwards of 750,000 tickets globally, including packed arena shows at Madison Square Garden, London’s O2 Arena, and the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.
