Myra Lee share new single “Corkscrew Drawer” – new LP June 26

Brooklyn-based alt-rock three-piece Myra Lee, formerly Dino Expedition, chose their name from a 1996 Cat Power record. With their first two singles, “Magpie” and “Dean,” the band has earned praise for their real, unflinching, raw songwriting and quietly powerful approach to heavy subject matter, all through a sound reminiscent of ‘90s indie rock staples.

Currently, the band shares Corkscrew Drawers,” the third single from their debut release, Capture The Flag, arriving June 26.

Composed of lead singer and guitarist Tahlia Amanson, Aiden Velazquez on bass, and McCabe Teems on drums, the trio’s sound is heavily influenced by ’90s indie legends such as Yo La Tengo, Pavement, Electrelane, and Sonic Youth, to name a few.

Like much of the album, “Corkscrew Drawers” serves as a deeply personal and cathartic release, pairing both haunting strings and lush guitar work with Amanson’s evocative vocals.

“My mother always saved all the corks from her wine bottles, packing them away in a kitchen drawer, proposing one day to use them for an ‘art project,’” Amanson shares. “It always felt like a constant reminder of the disease that surrounds alcoholism, lingering throughout the many houses we lived in. This song was written at an extremely low point in my relationship with my mother.

On Capture The Flag, Myra Lee rejects the idea of holding back, both in their craft and in their commitment to deeply personal storytelling.

The album was recorded over two days in a basement studio in the Lower East Side. The band live-tracked six songs with engineer Jeremy Harris (Devendra Banhart, Hand Habits, Allegra Krieger), and sessions were mixed and mastered by producer Calvin Lauber (Boygenius, Julien Baker) in Memphis. The final result is a multi-instrumental yet very intimate collection that grapples with themes of alcoholism, sexuality, and grief.

With Capture The Flag, Myra Lee delivers a raw, evocative, and bittersweet debut.
