This past Friday, The Last Dinner Party played their first show in North Carolina, hitting the stage on a very hot night at The Fillmore Charlotte. Charlotte has definitely been waiting for The Last Dinner Party to make a tour stop here! The venue was packed to the brim, ready to be transported into the magical world that is the “From The Pyre” tour.
The show started off with the Los Angeles rock band, Automatic. The band joined The Last Dinner Party for the second leg of their North American tour, and the fans are happy to have them! They started off with “Calling It,” off their 2019 album Signal, before flowing into “Venus Hour,” and “New Beginning” off their 2022 album Excess. The venue was packed and fairly warm, but Automatic helped set the mood for the show. They played an eight-song set, but had the crowd engaged and dancing the entire time. They finished off their set with multiple songs off their 2025 album Is It Now?, including “Black Box,” “mq9,” and “Mercury.” I was running a bit later than I wanted for the show, but I made it just in time for their set, and I am so glad that I didn’t miss it!
The Last Dinner Party graced the stage at 9 p.m., with a sold-out crowd erupting in excitement. They kicked off their set with “Agnus Dei,” “Count The Ways,” and “The Feminine Urge.” The vocals and sound throughout the show were truly amazing. Simply calling them a ‘band’ doesn’t feel adequate enough for the type of artistry they portray, especially live on stage.
They played a set of roughly 21 songs, off both their records. Some of the songs they played were “Caesar On The TV Screen,” “Sinner,” “My Lady of Mercy,” and “Gjuha,” which are off their 2024 record, Prelude To Ecstasy. They also played every song off their 2025 record From The Pyre, including “Second Best,” “Woman Is A Tree,” “Rifle,” and “I Hold Your Anger.” About halfway through the set, they played their most recent releases, “Big Dog” and “Come All You Beasts,” which were released in May of this year!
Unfortunately, they were missing one of their members, Georgia, who had to pull out for most of the tour because of a spinal injury. They made sure to stop and update us that she is resting and doing well while she recovers, before dedicating “On Your Side” to her! She was honored tonight by lead singer Abigail, who was wearing a beautiful hand-painted ribbon by @savvys_sketches, pinned to her dress! They finished off their incredible set with an encore and on-stage fan proposal during “This Is The Killer Speaking!” Their stage presence is stunning. Sometimes at shows, I catch myself focusing only on the lead singer, but every single member was so captivating! With their beautiful harmonies and infectious energy, I cannot wait for them to make another stop in Charlotte in the future!
Unfortunately for fans, Charlotte was the second-to-last tour stop for The Last Dinner Party, with their final stop being in Atlanta the following night. Hopefully, the band will make their return to North America on their next tour soon! For now, you can listen to their sophomore album, From The Pyre, on all platforms!
