JPEGMAFIA releases new album ‘EXPERIMENTAL RAP’ and drops “¥ (Yen)” and “$ (Money)” videos

JPEGMAFIA has released his new album EXPERIMENTAL RAP, a 25-track project written, produced, and mixed entirely by the artist himself. The album arrives alongside new videos for “¥ (Yen)” and “$ (Money),” giving fans two sharp visual entries into one of his most ambitious releases yet.

The project finds JPEGMAFIA pushing deeper into the collision of rap, punk, rock, industrial, electronic, and gospel textures that have made him one of hip-hop’s most unpredictable voices. It is abrasive, restless, and intentionally difficult to pin down, because apparently making music that politely stays in one lane was never on the syllabus.

Across EXPERIMENTAL RAP, JPEGMAFIA builds a world that feels chaotic without losing direction. His production moves from blown-out aggression to strange melodic turns, from digital noise to moments that feel almost spiritual before snapping back into something harder and more confrontational. That tension has always been part of his appeal, the sense that the music might collapse at any second, even though every piece has clearly been placed with intent.

“¥ (Yen)” and “$ (Money)” both dig into the obsession, paranoia, and power surrounding wealth. The tracks move through abrasive electronic textures, rapid-fire lyricism, and a kind of nervous energy that makes money feel less like status and more like infection.

The accompanying videos match that intensity, using fast-cut, high-pressure visuals to mirror the tracks’ kinetic production. Both clips feel built around overload, throwing the viewer into the same unstable atmosphere the songs create. JPEGMAFIA has never needed clean edges to make a point, and these videos understand that completely.

The album follows earlier singles “babygirl” and “War Over Land.” “babygirl” introduced the era with an adrenaline-heavy blend of rap, rock, and punk, while “War Over Land” took a more cinematic and emotionally charged approach, confronting conflict, cultural exhaustion, and the emptiness of clout. Together, the singles set up an album that is both confrontational and unusually wide in scope.

EXPERIMENTAL RAP follows JPEGMAFIA’s acclaimed 2024 album I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU, as well as a massive 2025 that included supporting Linkin Park on their From Zero global stadium tour. His recent momentum has also included contributions to BTS, production work for Maxo Kream and Denzel Curry, and continued recognition as one of the most uncompromising producers and performers in modern music.

JPEGMAFIA will support the album with European festival dates this August before launching “The Experimental Rap Tour” in North America this fall. The North American run begins September 22 in Spokane, Washington, with support from redveil and matt proxy, and includes an October 6 stop at Ogden Theatre in Denver.
