Mella announce summer tour behind new album Or So I’ve Been Told…

Progressive post hardcore band Mella have announced their summer “Or So We’ve Been Touring…” U.S. dates, with support from Body Thief and Postdrome on all dates.

The run kicks off July 10 in Hamtramck, Michigan, and stretches across 21 shows before wrapping August 9 at Subterranean in Chicago. Along the way, the tour will hit Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Atlanta, Orlando, Houston, Los Angeles, Sacramento, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Denver, and more, because apparently subtle album rollouts are for people with weaker van suspension.

Colorado fans can catch MELLA on August 5 at HQ in Denver, with Body Thief and Postdrome joining the bill.

The tour follows the release of MELLA’s new album, Or So I’ve Been Told…, out now via Equal Vision Records and Kill Iconic Records. Produced by Mike Watts, the record finds the band leaning into intricate instrumentation, dynamic shifts, and lyrical vulnerability while keeping the songs grounded in real emotional force.

Mella’s sound pulls from post hardcore intensity, emo introspection, and progressive unpredictability without losing sight of melody or structure. That balance is the hook. The songs can move through heavier turns and more detailed arrangements, but they still feel direct enough to land.

The band is made up of Danny Ray McCool Jr. on vocals, James Lucas Artwohl on bass and keys, and Luke Martucci on drums. Together, they build songs that feel rooted in the emotional DNA of post-hardcore while pushing toward something more current and less trapped by scene nostalgia.

That distinction matters. Mella is not trying to simply relive a past era of heavy alternative music. They are pulling from the bones of what moved them, and reshaping it into something that feels alive now. The result is music built on tension, release, vulnerability, and the kind of restless energy that usually means a band is actually trying instead of just dusting off old formulas.
