On June 12, 2026– Punk-rock band, EYELID released their new single “walk away” that captures the rejection of societal rules and to convince others that deviance against these rules will allow yourself to be who you want to be. This single teaches the listener to be a version of yourself that doesn’t fall for the pressure that the world wants to place on us. The instrumentation is filled with tension, urgency, and it’s unfiltered that represents the core message of this single
Interviewer: For new fans that discovered Eyelid; are you able to give insight about the band and what led you to create the soundscape that you have?
EYELID: “We started this band in college around 2023, consisting of Anthony Panella (drums), Samantha Vega (guitar/vocals) and Dean Woolis (former bassist). We started by playing covers and then evolved into writing original songs. Shortly after our debut EP “It Gets Worse”, our original bass player left, but we met Richie (bass) soon after. We take influences from many genres/subgenres of music, from alternative 90s rock, hardcore punk, etc. and that is how we ended up with the soundscape we have.“
Interviewer: “Walk Away” is the band’s new single and was accompanied by an official music video; what’s the core message of the single and what was the original idea behind this music video?
EYELID: ““Walk Away” is our way of expressing our feelings on not wanting to follow the structured path that society has set up for young adults. Do good in school, go to college, get a job, climb the corporate ladder, get married, have kids, buy a house. It’s all bullshit.
As for the idea behind the music video that was all on our director Samira Gomez. We had reached out to her and she put it all together which we are all super grateful for. Her original idea was to have the band captured by a robot and these evil scientists who throw us in a test room and examine our playing. On top of that, there’s also a 60s theme element to the video. This is why the boys (Anthony and Richie) have these suits and ties on with their hair gelled back and me (Sam) in a classic beehive hairdo and vintage dress, which was very fun to do.“
Interviewer: What emotion or message were you trying to visually translate?
EYELID: “The robot is a metaphor for the societal structure surrounding us, constantly surveling us and forcing us to abide by their rules. (Fuck Reagan!)“
Interviewer: Was there a specific moment in the song that shaped the video’s direction?
EYELID: “The theme of the song formed the direction that Samira wanted to present.”
Interviewer: Would this song exist differently without a visual component?
EYELID: “Nah“
Interviewer: How does this single represent where the band is right now?
EYELID: “It represents our growth into young adults, realizing what the world is like.“
Interviewer: How has it felt finally releasing this song into the world?
EYELID: “It’s been a relief finally getting the song out. We initially recorded this song around July 2025. With it being written months before that, so it’s been a while! Between getting new gear to rerecord parts and finding the right mix, it was a journey and it’s very satisfying to see it through.“
Interviewer: What do you want listeners to feel the first time they hear it?
EYELID: “Most of all, we hope that we can connect with other people who may feel the same about being stuck in a loop, feeling societal pressures, and feeling like they have to adhere to what is “expected” by them. What if I just walked away?”
