Memphis rock four-piece Sleep Theory is bringing the nostalgia of Punk Goes Pop back with the release of a studio version of their cover of NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye,” and it’s better than ever!
The group has been celebrating some major successes lately, such as their third No. 1 on Rock Radio, Best New Rock Artist at the iHeart Radio Awards, and three sold-out headlining tours — including their European debut.
All the buzz follows their debut album, Afterglow — with production and mixing by David Cowell and Zakk Cervini (Bring Me The Horizon, Bad Omens, Architects) — which came out last spring.
Sleep Theory’s cover of the 2000’s hit, “Bye Bye Bye,” has long been a fan-favorite during live performances, becoming a staple of their set, and having fans begging for a studio version.
Since the release of the very first Punk Goes Pop album in 2002, which features well-known rock bands covering radio hits in their own, grungier styles, heavier covers of pop songs have been well-loved within the rock and metal communities, and Sleep Theory’s edition of the iconic NSYNC song is no different.
Along with releasing the studio version on all streaming platforms, complete with a recreation of NSYNC’s recognizable self-titled album cover — featuring all Sleep Theory members, Cullen Moore (vocals), Daniel Pruitt (guitar), Paolo Vergara (bass), and Ben Pruitt (drums), and a moon insignia instead of a star — the band also released a casual, yet fun music video.
