Cinema Stare share new single “FML” ahead of July tour

Connecticut emo/pop-punk band Cinema Stare has released their new single “FML,” out now through Static Era Records.

Following “Plus Ultra!” and “Few Things,” the new track finds Cinema Stare leaning into the kind of exhausted, angry, deeply relatable emotional territory that tends to define both good emo songs and simply checking the news for thirty seconds. “FML” is built for trying times, pairing punchy riffs, sharp melodies, and vocalist/guitarist Quinn Miller’s soaring delivery with lyrics about feeling helpless, unadjusted, and furious at the world around you.

The hook lands fast, especially with lines like “They say suck it up, you’re so dramatic, but what if I can’t?” It is direct, messy, and painfully familiar, which is usually where emo and pop-punk work best. Nobody comes to this genre because everything is going great.

Speaking about the track, Miller says “FML” is “literally as the title describes,” calling it a song about being helpless and pissed off. He points to the chorus line “Guess I’ll just bleed, another body for the heap” as a reflection of feeling like a useless cog in a world where pain and distress do not matter to those at the top.

That frustration gives the song its weight. “FML” is not just vague angst polished into a playlist-friendly shape. It is about pushing through systems that feel broken, feeling replaceable, and watching art get shoved aside for AI slop while everyone is told to keep moving like this is normal.

Musically, the song keeps that anger moving rather than letting it sink. The track’s dynamic shifts, vocal progressions, and rhythmic turns give it momentum, while the production keeps the edges clean enough to hit without sanding away the frustration. “FML” was produced, engineered, and mixed by Chris Teti at Silver Bullet Studios, with mastering by Will Putney.

This July, Cinema Stare will join Adjust The Sails and World’s Greatest Dad on tour, with HummusVacuum and Sunday Cruise appearing on select dates. The run kicks off July 7 in New Orleans and wraps July 26 in Greenville, South Carolina.
