With his debut album just weeks away, rising artist, producer, and songwriter Tenroc is giving listeners another taste of what’s to come. On June 26, he released “walk on the water,” a pop anthem centered on faith, perseverance, and trust, ahead of the arrival of his debut full-length album, God Is A Person, due July 17 via Sony and Provident.
The new track continues a strong run of singles leading into the album release. Over the past several months, Tenroc has steadily introduced listeners to his solo sound through songs including “u or nothing,” “playlist” “mourning 2 dancing,” which features Tori Kelly and Jon Keith, and “call My name (YHWH).” “walk on the water” builds on that momentum, pairing polished pop production with an encouraging message that reflects the spiritual themes woven throughout the upcoming record.
Although God Is A Person marks Tenroc’s first solo album, he is no stranger to the music industry. Raised in New York City, Tenroc began plaing piano, drums, and guitar at a very young age before moving into music production as a teenager. Since that time, he has made a name for himself, becoming one of the industry’s most sough after collaborators behind-the-scenes, contributing to songs that have amassed more than 3.6 billion streams collectively.
His production and songwriting credits span an impressive range of artists, including Rihanna, Jonas Brothers, Reneé Rapp, Julia Michaels, and Jon Bellion. He also earned two GRAMMY nominations for his work on World Music Radio by Jon Batiste.
According to Tenroc, the journey toward creating God Is A Person began with an “unexpected creative awakening.” The album was self-produced in his home studio in Queens and emerged from what he describes as a spiritual calling.
“I’d never really wanted to be an artist and put out music under my own name, but I felt called to do so by God,” he says. “I just trusted that He had a plan for me, and I dove into the album full-force.”
With “walk on the water” now out in the world and God Is A Person arriving July 17, Tenroc is stepping from behind the scenes and into the spotlight, bringing years of songwriting and production experience with him as he launches the next chapter of his career.
