GAYLE shares “junebug!” as first taste of debut album ‘Observing Chaos’

After months of teasing her next chapter, GAYLE is back with a new single. “junebug!” gives fans the first taste of her long-awaited debut album, Observing Chaos, which is expected later this year.

Co-written and co-produced by GAYLE, the earworm was inspired by the fun memories that she associates with the month of June. “junebug! is about capturing my love for the month of June!,” GAYLE says. “Everyone in my family’s birthdays are in June (including mine)… and duh, Pride Month! So every year the whole month is a continuous party. This song was made to withstand all things fun, exciting, and tiring. It’s for when you’re getting ready to go out, it’s on while you’re out doing things you love with people you love, and it’s always there the day after a party to remind you of how much fun you had.

GAYLE has been working toward this record for several years. After “abcdefu” became a global hit, she took time away from the whirlwind that followed to focus on herself before returning to the studio. Observing Chaos draws on the personal experiences and emotional changes that came with growing up during that period, exploring everything from love and heartbreak to trust, partying, and the difficult choices that define life between the ages of 17 and 21.

Fans won’t have to wait until release day to hear it. GAYLE recently launched her new fan club, the g spot, and plans to hit the road for a series of album listening sessions and exclusive fan events, giving listeners an early look at the record before it officially arrives.

Aside from her own music, GAYLE continues to expand her songwriting credits, which now include writing for artists like Kelly Clarkson and Roddy Ricch. She also co-wrote and performed a reimagining of Crazy Town’s “Butterflies” which was featured as part of the Barbie soundtrack produced by Mark Ronson.

“junebug!” is available for steraming now, with Observing Chaos set to follow later this year.
