The Garden releases new album ‘Bootleg’ via Epitaph + headline North American tour kicks off this September

Bootleg The Garden

Navigating their way back to Epitaph, twin brothers Wyatt and Fletcher Shears of the experimental punk staple The Garden return with a brand new album this week, Bootleg. Following the momentum of previously shared singles “Eve of Nothing,” “5 Mile Pony Tail,” and “Ugly,” Bootleg opens another beautifully unhinged chapter for the duo, who first captivated wider audiences with their 2022 record HORSESHIT ON ROUTE 66 and their 2024 EP “Six Desperate Ballads.” Across 14 eclectic tracks, Wyatt and Fletcher continue embracing the beautifully uncanny instrumentation that has become synonymous with The Garden’s identity, stitched together by visceral production the pair meticulously sculpted themselves. Vinyl and CD variants of Bootleg will become available for pre-order in the coming weeks, ahead of an October 23 shelf date.

To usher in the era, the music will sharpen its teeth onstage this fall as the pair embark on a 19-date North American headline run beginning this August and stretching into early October, winding through cities including their hometown of Los Angeles, Atlanta, New York City, Philadelphia, Chicago, and beyond. Joining them across select dates are bar italia, Thaiboy Digital, Ghost Mountain, and her new knife. Before launching into the headline tour, The Garden will also share stages with The Strokes throughout select cities this August, a fitting pairing for a band that has always existed somewhere between underground cult fascination and festival-sized spectacle.

The Garden has cultivated an almost mythological following through their ability to fuse the supernatural and absurd into music that feels equally haunted, theatrical, and strangely hypnotic. The duo has remained unwaveringly committed to a world that is entirely their own – equal parts sarcastic, surreal, and delightfully unpredictable – crafting live performances that flirt with beautiful disorder while remaining anchored by remarkable musicianship and instinctive groove. That fearless originality has allowed their music to flourish deep within the underground while effortlessly spilling onto stages beside some of alternative music’s biggest names, proving their sound belongs to no single scene.

The Garden isn’t the only creative universe the brothers inhabit, either. Both continue expanding their artistry through solo projects that further showcase their command of production and sonic world-building. Flecther channels rave-fueled electronic experimentation through Puzzle, while Wyatt’s solo endeavor, Enjoy, leans deeper into a warped, garage rock spirit. Together, however, the brothers have conceptualized something unmistakably their own, making The Gardne less of a band and more of an ecosystem where every release feels like another strange corner waiting to be uncovered.

Bootleg is now available for public consumption across all streaming platforms, with live dates kicking off next month; full routing is available below. If you’ve ever been curious about stepping inside The Garden’s beautifully chaotic universe, there has never been a better time to wander in and smell the flowers.
