Charlie Puth turns the Olympia into a live session

Charlie Puth, pop’s little genius with perfect pitch, was back in Paris for a show that sold out immediately upon release. It was an exceptional concert at the legendary Olympia, known for its extraordinary acoustics.

Before Charlie Puth took the stage, it was Bradley Simpson, former singer and frontman of The Vamps, who opened the show. He has serious charm and is also a very talented musician — every song already felt like a hit.

Charlie Puth’s concert was completely unique. What stands out right from the start is that the lights first turn to the backup singers (they’re absolutely incredible) before Charlie makes his entrance. Throughout the evening, you could feel real chemistry within the band. Charlie is the conductor, but everyone gets their moment, and each band member gets to shine. Musically, it’s just wild.

Charlie Puth delivers a setlist completely reimagined for the live show, alternating between classics and tracks from the new album, while giving, between each song, an explanation of how he made it — or an anecdote about it. It’s genuinely impressive. He switches between grand piano and synth and puts on a remarkable show. You can also feel how close he is to his fans; the venue’s layout is perfect for that.

You can tell he’s matured, that he’s also trying new things: there’s a slightly jazzy, more intimate style running through parts of the show. He mentions that he wasn’t sure the venue would sell out so quickly, and says how grateful he is to French audiences.

He closes the show with a stunning run of “See You Again,” “One Call Away,” and “Changes.” He even takes the time to sign a fan’s vinyl in the front row!

It was a completely unexpected, surprising concert, with a generous show that also reveals what an incredible musician Charlie Puth is and the disarming ease with which he plays every single song.
