Blu DeTiger, the American singer, songwriter, producer, DJ, and bass guitar virtuoso, released a brand new single, “Shock!” on July 17. Following the release of “Whisper” in June, Blu DeTiger is officially entering a new musical era, with, we can at least hope, a new album on the way. She definitely has a new sonic approach compared to her older projects, moving away from her previous indie-pop flavors for a more glamorous, dancefloor-filling sound and vision. “‘Shock!’ was one of the first songs I made for this new project,” says Blu DeTiger, “and it really unlocked the world I’m building with this era. It’s all groove – funky, disco, boogie – but the vocals have this 2000s R&B flavor that makes it feel fresh and playful.”

She adds, “For the video, I like putting myself in places slightly surreal – being teleported into this blue table tennis center in Los Angeles and somehow feeling completely at home, but also totally unfazed by the chaos around me. People who know me know I’m very into ping-pong. I’ve been obsessed with the sport and training for the past two years, so it felt like the perfect way to bring another side of my life into the music.”

DeTiger continues to play live over the next few months, with a stop in Spain to support Purple Disco Machine with a DJ set at the legendary Pacha Ibiza, and a highly anticipated hometown festival appearance at All Things Go NYC at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, New York, on Friday, September 25. Next to these dates, she will continue to celebrate the release of “Shock!,” with her ongoing pop-up dance parties and table tennis tournaments “Bounce,” co-created alongside her brother, Rex DeTiger, and close friend, actor/musician Giullian Yao Gioiello.
