hot mess bring the rush with new single, “Take Me Home”

hot mess is a pop-rock band founded out of Milwaukee by Reid Stevenson. They only came into the music scene last year, but the group is not all that new. If you think they sound familiar, then you remember the era of haydentheposer. It was an official rebranding choice made by Stevenson for growth and to officially claim themselves as a band instead of a personal solo project. They might only have six singles as of right now, but they are all bangers and cannot be slept on. Especially their latest drop, “Take Me Home.” They really know how to blend nostalgic sounds with catchy hooks that are sure to get stuck in your head.

Bassist Trevor Gallagher shares, “This is the ultimate track to kick off our new era. The song blends 80’s Blade Runner-esque synth layers with Mötley Crüe levels of swagger and punk rock energy. But the 80s are long gone. We needed some new heat for a new day. Something nostalgic enough to get you interested and cool enough to make you stick around for the whole party.”

They are going far, and you should get on for the ride, especially if you like ’90s nostalgia with modern twists. Driven by their pop-punk roots and influenced by darker rock sounds, hot mess is bringing us to new levels. Inspired by ambition, relationships, jealousy, and all the feelings that come with self-reflection, this group writes to be authentic and raw in everything they do. They have played quite a few shows around Milwaukee, and I have been fortunate enough to see them live. I think they are definitely making a break in the scene. “Take Me Home” is catchy and bouncy, everything you want in the pop-rock scene. I especially love the growth from their debut track, “Industry Plant.”
