July 17, 2026 – The alt-pop singer and songwriter Maddie Zahm released her single “Hometown Letdown,” which is the second single off her brilliant sophomore album, Everything All The Time, dropping September 25, through MNRK Nashville. This track has become a fan favorite across Maddie’s socials; she began teasing the song on her Instagram last month, and it has blown up. “Hometown Letdown” is a witty reflection on the comments that Zahm found online from her hometown since forging her own path, moving away from the traditional and religious community that she was raised in. Her vocals are incredibly strong and unwavering as she recounts the rumors spread from that judgmental viewpoint.
About her newest single, Maddie says, “When I first came out and publicly left the church, it was a few years after my debut on American Idol that a lot of church humans were very excited about. I spent a lot of time anxious about what people who had seen me as their favorite worship leader in Idaho would say or feel about me. But after reading firsthand what they felt in a Reddit thread, I realized it was… sort of funny. And although at the time I felt angry writing “Hometown Letdown,” I now get to post about it on the internet with the girl I love and a newfound excitement for letting people down. I hope through all of this they remember the relationship we had and wish me well, even if they don’t understand it. I love being a hometown letdown!”
Instead of treating growth as the final destination, Everything All The Time embraces it as the ongoing process, rooted in curiosity, humanity, and the perpetual journey of coming home to yourself.
Spanning the album’s 12 tracks, Maddie creates a warm, prismatic sense of wonder, composing a record that is sincere, humorous, heart-wrenching, and passionately human. She remembers watching “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” growing up and how it became a guiding light for her, opening her eyes to allowing herself to live without judgement of herself. She recollects the freedom of her childlike wonder, where she reminds herself to always embrace the strange and beautiful flow that is becoming yourself on your own terms.
In an age where some fans expect a stereotypical personality, Zahm’s music continues to emphasize the acceptance of change and vehement reality. Everything All The Time charmingly aids the lesson that first drew Zahm toward the amiable and emotional honesty of Mister Rogers: feeling deeply is a gift as well as a responsibility. Instead of flattening herself into a self-help jingle or treating vulnerability like it is a moral high ground, Zahm grants her songs the ability to exist in their complete nuance.
