Mollie Elizabeth enters The Twilight Zone on “Puppet Show”

The curtain rises once again for Mollie Elizabeth, who steps back into the spotlight this week with her latest single, “Puppet Show,” available now on all streaming platforms. Following the momentum of standout releases including “Vegas Ventian,” “Dog Eat Dog,” and “Run Rabbit,” the 22-year-old songwriter continues expanding the vintage dreamscape that has quickly become synonymous with her artistry. Produced by Joshua Murty with sweeping string arrangements by Kyle Gordon, “Puppet Show” unfolds as a haunting meditation on the impossible pursuit of perfection, balancing old Hollywood glamour with modern pop sensibilities in a way that feels unmistakably Mollie Elizabeth. Accompanying the release is a self-directed visualizer inspired by The Twilight Zone episode “Eye of the Beholder,” where Mollie drinks a mysterious potion before awakening wrapped like a mummy, transforming the song’s central theme into a beautifully eerie theatrical performance.

Long before she began crafting these cinematic worlds, Mollie Elizabeth spent her childhood tucked away in the Cascade Mountains of Washington, where days were filled with forests and the timeless sounds of Rosemary Clooney, Doris Day, Connie Francis, The Zombies, and The Kinks drifting through her home. Armed with nothing more than a $12 microphone and an imagination far bigger than her surroundings, she quickly began building the universe listeners now know so well. That nostalgic spirit blossomed with her 2025 debut EP, “Dirty Blonde,” a project that introduced audiences to her unmistakable blend of orchestral pop, vintage jazz, and contemporary production, earning praise for creating music that seemed to exist outside of time itself. Rather than simply writing songs, Mollie has steadily cultivated a world where every melody feels like stepping into a faded photograph that somehow still breathes.

That philosophy continues to guide “Puppet Show,” a release that once again blurs the boundaries between music, cinema, and visual storytelling. As Mollie herself explains, “To me, every melody is a tiny world that invites you in – an invitation to be both fierce and delicate, and to celebrate who you are, who you have been, and who you are becoming. My music isn’t just for listening – it’s for wandering, for imagining, and for finding a piece of yourself in a place you’d forgotten.” It’s an outlook that perfectly captures why her music resonates so deeply. Rather than asking listeners to simply press play, Mollie Elizabeth invites them to step behind the curtain, wander through another beautifully imagined universe, and perhaps leave carrying a forgotten piece of themselves.
