Welcome to the Cruel Summer: Sleep Theory style

Well, hello everyone! Long time no see. Sleep Theory has come out with a cover of the one-and-only Taylor Swift song “Cruel Summer.” This version was released on July 2, but not only did they have this song; they did a whole EP of covers: “(E)motional (S)upport (C)are (P)ackage.”

“Bye Bye Bye” is a classic NSYNC song! If you have never heard it, either you’re living under a rock like Mr. Patrick Star, or you’re very young. Sleep Theory didn’t let us down with this cover — or NSYNC! Now, when I say this, I don’t want any rotten tomatoes thrown at me or for me to be judged. We are all valid for having our own opinions, but I actually like this version more than the original. 

“My Heart” is one of my favorite deep tracks from Paramore. When listening to Sleep Theory’s version, it brought tears to my eyes. It made me remember the very first time I listened to the song. There is something powerful about it, as it is such an inspirational song if you really dive deep into it and pay close attention to the lyrics. 

“Cruel Summer” – I’m going to be so honest, I’ve never actually heard this song all the way through. I only knew the chorus and the bridge, so that being said, I HAD to tune in on the OG. I’m not a big Swiftie, but this anthem is a really good one. Then, when I listened to the Sleep Theory version, I really liked what they did with it because they made it their own. The other two sounded pretty similar to the original, but “Cruel Summer” felt like Sleep Theory truly put their own twist on it. 

Please start supporting the one and only Sleep Theory either by buying merch or concert tickets. If you can’t do that, because I know times are tough — groceries, right? — just tune into their music and play them on repeat.
