Simple Plan‘s “The Bigger Than You Think Tour! The Prequel!” came through Jacobs Pavilion last week to perform a sold-out show to a bunch of kids adults. Following them on this tour are Warped Tour brothers and veterans, Bowling for Soup and 3OH!3 to help get the party started.
3OH!3 was up to the stage first, playing an 11-song setlist that got the crowd amped up and ready to go for the night. Hitting songs like “Punkbitch,” “Starstruckk,” “My First Kiss,” and “Don’t Trust Me” were surefire songs to energize everyone in the crowd. By the end of their set, the fans at Jacobs Pavilion were excited for the night to come.
Bowling For Soup were up next, opening their set with “Girl All The Bad Guys Want,” “High School Never Ends,” and “Almost;” the band had everyone singing along. During the set, Jared started to talk about how everyone is getting old, getting ready to introduce “Getting Old Sucks,” but accidentally skipped the song and went into the Phineas and Ferb theme song, “Today Is Gonna Be A Great Day.” Once they finished the song, Jared commented on his mistake before continuing on the set as normal. Ending the set with their covers of “Teenage Dirtbag” and “1985,” Bowling For Soup made sure the energy was high for the final band of the night, Simple Plan.
Finally, it was time. The crowd was ready, and the venue was at full capacity, as Simple Plan made their way to the stage. Starting off the set with “I’d Do Anything,” “Nothing Changes,” and “Shut Up!,” Simple Plan knew how to start the show off right. The band continued on playing through fan favorites such as “Jet Lag,” “Addicted,” and “Welcome To My Life,” before Pierre took off running through the crowd to get to a small stage that had been set up with a piano for him to play “Untitled (How Could This Happen To Me).” Once the song finished, Pierre took the chance to run through the crowd, trying to get close to as many fans as he could while singing “Promise.”
As the band got ready to perform “What’s New Scooby Doo?,” they brought up fans from the crowd who came to the show dressed as members of the Mystery Gang to dance and sing along while the song was played. Ending the night with the same energy they carried all night, the band closed out their set with “I’m Just A Kid” and “Perfect,” giving the night the perfect ending everyone deserved.
