On the road with Plush and Major Moment

Maybe my favorite stage shot ever taken of a show we’ve been to. This is the official Plush crowd shot from the Barrel House in Maryland. Can ya find my co-writer and the coolest little rocker around!

Today, something different! Since Uma’s big backstage interview with Plush will drop sometime early next week, and we’ve also been asked a lot of questions about how our big music road trip went last week, we figured we’d offer a photo story today.

Between Uma and myself, we took MANY MANY pics and videos, and the bands were all so kind with their enthusiasm and time. Here’s a visual story for you all to enjoy!

Believe it or not, our adventure began with waiting for the lights to come back on! Just a couple of hours before showtime on our first day, Saturday, August 22, a car hit a power line across the street from the Barrel House in Fallston, Maryland. No power! The show was delayed an hour as crews worked to reconnect power. While we waited, Uma found a nearby perch to read and watch the crews work!
While waiting for power to come back on, fans and band members hung out in the parking lot, and Uma got to say hi and talk with the incredible musicians from Plush. She made them each a bead charm, and here she is delivering her gifts.
One of the best parts about our little adventures is meeting the bands and adding meet-and-greet shots to Uma’s albums. From left to right, here she is meeting Major Moment, VEER, and Plush.
When the show finally started, we snagged super side-stage views of the boys of VEER, a heavy rock band that absolutely floored us! We even grabbed their latest CD and have been in touch with them about an interview.
Next up was Boston-based Major Moment, one of our favorite bands. Uma looks up to lead singer Sasha as a big sister. At one point, Sasha stepped down into the audience to sing and fist-bumped Uma. I’m posting that video below!
Then it was time for Plush, and they blew the roof off the joint! No zoom here, this is how close we were!
Day two, Sunday, August 23, got off to an incredible start as we got into the Capital City Music Hall early for a VIP where Plush played an unreleased song to us from their upcoming album. And then, amazingly, Ashley Suppa gave Uma a mini-bass lesson on her very own patchwork bass. Just wow! Afterward, Uma got to interview the band face-to-face! That interview will be posted next week!
After Uma’s interview, we got to stay inside the venue and take our places up at the rail! Great views and two blistering sets from Major Moment and Plush!
Just in case anyone wonders why our YouTube channel is called Dispatches From the Rail, well, here’s Uma front and center at the rail. Her favorite spot! And below is a video she filmed of Plush playing one of her favorite songs, “Hate.”
One of the best things about following a band you love is being part of a cool fan base and then actually meeting some of those folks in person at shows! Here we are with a Plush fan group, many of whom we know but only met for the first time at the show. That’s what it’s all about!

We hope you enjoyed our photo story of our amazing music trip to see Major Moment and Plush. Each year, Uma and I try to find the time to go on a musical road trip, and this one was extra special. We’ll have a few more stories from the trip in future posts, but the big story will be our exclusive interview that Uma gave to Plush backstage at our VIP meet and greet. I’m in the process now of transcribing the interview, and we hope to publish it first over at Interviews By Uma. Please subscribe there to get all of Uma’s interviews. Click that below and we’ll get that interview to you soon!
