The Wldlfe is heading into a new era, and “Saturn” gives us the next glimpse at where they’re going. The Nashville-based trio — vocalist Jansen Hogan, guitarist/vocalist Carson Hogan, and bassist Jack Crane — has shared the latest single from their upcoming album, Revolver, due October 2 via Riser House Records. Following previously released tracks “Lips” and “Parachute,” “Saturn” pairs hazy synths and a slow-burning arrangement with a breakup story that’s equal parts wistful and wounded.

At the center of the song is the feeling of looking back on a relationship that once seemed full of possibility. Hogan sings, “You used to hold me on your front porch/ Oh, tell me baby what was that for?” before the track settles deeper into its dreamy, slightly otherworldly mood.

For The Wldlfe, the song also represents a willingness to chase an idea without knowing exactly where it will lead.

“The day we wrote ‘Saturn’ was a day without AC in the dead of summer,” Hogan recalls. “Needless to say, there was quite a bit of will power in this session to bring it together. However, the song we were writing ended up being a poetic distraction. We had brought a lyrical idea to LA that at the time was simply ‘if i could steal the ring of saturn and put it on your hand.’ It felt like there was something waiting for us there. The idea of ‘Saturn’ naturally felt sci-fi and more experimental for us and led us down a road sonically that we haven’t really tried yet. I remember jokingly repeating the ‘I could’ve been everything you wanted if I was your man’ line and all of us looking up at each other and being like ‘That’s actually cool for this.’ We’re particularly proud of this one because we tried something out of the ordinary for us and landed on something special.“

That spirit of experimentation runs throughout Revolver. Rather than rushing to recreate what has worked for them in the past, The Wldlfe took their time writing, rethinking, experimenting, and figuring out what felt right. The result is an album with a wide sonic range, incorporating ‘80s rock, pop, alternative, and indie influences along with the big melodies and emotional immediacy they have come to be known for.

The trio has built a loyal following out on the road over the years, touring North America alongside bands like The Band Camino, Flor, Knox, Nightly, and COIN, and with multiple EPs and albums under their belt, they have ammassed more than 125 million global streams.

The Wldlfe will take Revolver to rooms all over North America this fall. Their headlining “Long Way Home” tour begins October 17 at The Social in Orlando, Florida, kicking off a new run of dates built around the album. The band has become known for their live shows over the years, and the tour will give fans their first opportunity to hear the new album in a live setting.
