Neon pop-punk artist by the name lolitslea (Lea) is bringing all the catchy hooks and raw lyricism with her latest project titled RollerCoaster Tycoon. Funny story is, she recalls how this was not the original title for this album, and everything kind of took on a name of its own through life. She was reflecting back on the year with some friends and how everything felt like a rollercoaster — so uncertain, the overall craziness she was going through — and so the name was born, all wrapped up a few years later. Every song put into this project was planned out and lined up to come out, which happened to align with what she refers to as the soundtrack of her life. This is not a self-titled album, to be clear. I did ask how she thought about it being referred to, and it is not it. This album represents nostalgia, middle school adventures, and the feelings that are coming out now. 

With new music coming out, artists are always looking back at past releases and having new favorites they want their fans to love. That being said, I asked her what songs, one released and one coming, would she want a new listener to check out first for an introduction to her sound.

lolitslea says, “’RollerCoaster Tycoon,’ because it goes along with the theme of saying it’s my anthem, my soundtrack, and then I think a previous song that would best represent me, I would say, ‘Exit Plan.’ It’s about how I sold my Nintendo DS to a pawn shop, and I feel like that’s such a big part of my artist identity.”

lolitslea is bringing the throwbacks while we reminisce about the times of DS video games and how so much has changed since, especially since her stage name reflects on the old social media times from MySpace to the online chat rooms. Additionally, she feels that her single, “Fell Into A Crapshoot And Called It Love,” really showcases her songwriting and the origin of her start with entering the music industry as an artist. She thinks it’s one of her deeper hidden cuts that many don’t listen to, but her friend Patrick likes to remind her that he thinks it’s one of her best releases. Parallel to that, she says that for newer releases, “Other Side Of My Window” is another track embodying her inner thoughts and reflections, but on her softer side. Either way, from what it sounds like, this new album is going to be full of bangers, and I know I cannot wait for its full release. 

There are currently three tracks out right now, and I know the most recent one brings some fire heat with featured vocals by jacktheunderdog. Like lolitslea, jacktheunderdog brings the catchy pop-punk hooks, and the two, paired together, have undeniable chemistry. I need to hear this performed live, fingers crossed! I have had the opportunity to witness both live, separately, and the energy that they both bring to a show is unbelievable. I am a big pop-punk listener; trust me, I know what I’m talking about here. I’m only kind of an expert. Don’t just take my word for it; RollerCoaster Tycoon comes out on September 15, and you’ll be able to stream it to your heart’s content. Maybe we’ll even see an album release tour? *WINK WINK* 

Guess we’ll just have to wait and see what other announcements come out.
