bodie unveils new single “IDOLS” ahead of sophomore album

Alt-rock singer-songwriter bodie has released “IDOLS,” the latest preview of his forthcoming sophomore album, SELLOUT, which is slated for release early 2027. Built around a rap-driven foundation and an intensely personal vocal performance, “IDOLS” feels like bodie is taking a hard look at the things that can so easily become distractions. He runs through the everyday stuff — money worries, doom-scrolling, trying to keep everyone happy, chasing success, and wondering if he’s falling behind — before landing on the bigger realization behind the song: sometimes the things we spend the most time thinking about end up taking the place of what really matters.

At the center of it all is a pretty simple decision: let go of those distractions and put your focus somewhere else. “I’m throwing out all of my idols/No one else could ever have Your title/To the world I’m probably a psycho/But I’m not letting any more time go/ That’s all I know.”

bodie has had a busy year and is showing no signs of slowing down any time soon. “IDOLS,” which features Taylor Hill, marks the fifth preview from the upcoming record, due to be released on January 29, 2027. Each release has been accompanied by a music video, with this newest video taking a refreshingly simple approach. It follows bodie and three friends, including Taylor Hill, cruising through the city with the windows down, singing, and jamming along to the track. The laid-back drive, friends packed into a car, and song playing at full volume perfectly captures the vibe of the track’s sound.

The new release comes as bodie is about to hit the road, with the first leg of his Coast to Coast tour kicking off September 16 in Nashville. The headlining tour will make 9 stops across the US with more tour dates to be announced. bodie will also join CAIN on the road for a series of fall shows and festival appearances in November.

There’s plenty of momentum behind him. bodie’s 2025 debut album, NO SKIPS, arrived through Provident Entertainment/Sony and has helped push his streaming total past 71 million. Since its release, he’s toured with Colton Dixon, Elevation Rhythm and Seph Schlueter, continuing to build a reputation around a sound that doesn’t sit neatly inside one genre. His “HAPPY TO BE HERE” EP produced “whisper and the wind,” which climbed into the Top 10 on both the Billboard Airplay and Mediabase Audience charts. The song also earned bodie, alongside co-writers Sajan Nauriyal and Wes Strunk, the Grand Prize in the International Songwriting Competition. The competition drew more than 14,000 entries from 112 countries, with judges including members of KISS, Linkin Park, Heart and Sugarland, among others.

Awards recognition has followed, too. bodie picked up three Dove Award nominations, including New Artist of the Year, Rock/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year, and Short Form Music Video of the Year (Concept) for “RIP.” He’s also been nominated for a K-Love Fan Award tied to “whisper and the wind” and won Dance/Remix Song of the Year at the We Love Christian Music Awards for “whisper and the wind – remix.”

With a New Artist of the Year nomination at the 57th Annual GMA Dove Awards, which will take place October 6 at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, and a growing run of live dates ahead, bodie’s next chapter is already underway.
