Los Angeles rockers Spanish Love Songs have just announced that fans will be getting a new album on November 6 and released a single to get us excited for Future Nausea’s coming. From the first listen, I am hooked and quite excited for what’s to come. After what feels like dominoes of bad news with famous celebrities passing away and bands departing with vocalists, it feels like it’s been a while since some good news has been released.

Spanish Love Songs explain that this new track is a very thematic backbone to the album as a whole. The entire LP takes a look at life and draws from heavy political topics, making sure that the listeners know exactly where they stand on everything, refusing to be anything but truthful about what they believe in the world. Spanish Love Songs are authentic, raw, and apologetic in everything they create for us. Vocalist Dylan Sloclum talks about how this is one of the angriest songs he’s written and that it sets the tone for the record to come: minimal but loud. 

Sloclum also discusses how he wanted this album to help everyone understand interpersonal relationships and how important they are in society to understand everything. Future Nausea pushes the limits and ideals about how despair is giving in, which is not what one should do; instead, those uncertain moments need to be filled with love and companionship so that it’ll reverberate through the shakiness seen in the future. Even with the anger and strong feelings, they discuss how it is also one of the saddest albums we will get from them. 

I think the contrast of being the angriest and saddest sounds go hand in hand because, deep down, no matter how furious one feels, there is a brokenness paired with it. Feelings are so complex, and that’s what makes us humans so unique, because emotions are never just one idea; there is so much that gets interwoven into them, and angry, sad moments are what make the light, happy ones shine that much brighter. 

I cannot wait for this new album to come out in two months, but until then I will be streaming “Good American” on repeat and hope more sneak peeks will come out to really get us amped up about these coming releases.
