Blood Orange continues his “Essex Honey Tour” with three nights at The Warfield in San Francisco. After stops in Portland and Seattle, fans in San Francisco were ready, with all three dates sold out. Blood Orange will continue his tour in Atlanta on September 19. Devonte Hynes, professionally known as Blood Orange, was accompanied on stage by vocalist Eva Tolkin and artist Ian Isiah.

Blood Orange’s set began around 9:30 p.m., opening with “I Wanna C U,” a short but wonderful song to kick things off. The stage design was open but included platforms for each of the band members. Throughout the show, Hynes would put his talents on display, playing multiple different instruments scattered throughout the stage. After the opening couple of songs, he played “Sutphin Boulevard” and “You’re Not Good Enough,” which the crowd cheered loudly for. Later in his setlist, Hynes included fan favorites, “Countryside,” “Best To You,” and “Bad Girls.” Visuals were projected on stage, reflecting each one of these songs. Finishing off the show, he showed his appreciation to the fans, followed by a performance of “Champagne Coast” and “The Field.” This show included some of the best instrumentals I’ve seen at any show, especially performances of “Champagne Coast” and “Sutphin Boulevard.”

Supporting Blood Orange was Mackeeper, an up-and-coming rock duo. Brothers Miles Cohen and Nick Hardwood form the group and blend their tastes to create a unique sound. They announced a new album release and followed it with a performance of their 2025 single, “Oh Canada.”

Ian Isiah opened the show, singing his identity through the R&B lens. Isiah is a long-time collaborator of Hynes, as the two have worked on a handful of songs throughout the decade. Isiah asked the crowd, “Who’s been in a situationship?” as the crowd got loud for “Situationship,” from Shugga Sextape (Vol. 1).
