Genre-defining pop artist and creative force, Troye Sivan returns with “Party,” an intoxicating, joyful tribute to the thrill of a night you never want to end.
“Party” was born from the repeating pattern of a weekend spent bouncing from one place to another, with Sivan aiming to bottle the sensation of an endless night — one that flows continuously with no true start or finish. It’s influenced by the bush doofs he grew up attending in Melbourne, and the euphoric rush of hearing dance music where it’s meant to be heard — on the dance floor.
“Dance music sounds very different on a dance floor than it does coming out of your laptop speaker. The repetition becomes almost hypnotic, and I wanted to play with structure in that way,” says Sivan.
Sampling Madonna’s iconic 2000s hit “Music,” “Party” brings together collaborators Luka Kloser, Elvira Anderfjärd, Tove Burman, Leland, Tyde Levi, Rob Feher and Styalz Fuego — marking Sivan and Tyde’s first official collaboration. “We’ve always made music in the same house. We’ve lived together for almost our whole lives,” says Sivan. “We’ve always naturally passed music back and forth.” This track marks the first time that shared musical world has officially surfaced in Sivan’s discography.
The music video, directed by Sivan’s longtime creative partner, Gordon Von Steiner, plays out as a sweeping period piece set in a castle in Berkley, England, drawing viewers into a world of luxury, hedonism, and unbridled celebration. Beneath its extravagant surface lies a deeper truth: partying can hold a near-sacred meaning, especially in queer culture.
“When Gordon and I were talking about the video and the song, we kept coming back to the idea that partying is actually quite sacred, especially for queer people. Nightlife is often the first place a queer person finds themselves in a room where they’re not the minority, so it becomes a really formative and liberating space for so many of us. And it letting loose is innate to humanity, which I believe it is; then surely people have always partied. We wanted to know what that looked like… So we went back in time and threw one.” – Troye Sivan
The film frames partying as a timeless ritual, opening with the voice of Sir Ian McKellen, who Sivan first worked with at 14 in a Perth production of “Waiting for Godot.” The moment holds deep meaning for Sivan — at the time, he was preparing to come out to his mother, and seeing an openly gay man living freely and proudly left a lasting impression. Years later, bringing McKellen in to voice “Party” became a powerful bridge between generations, and a nod to the film’s queer lineage.
“Party” follows “She’s The Best,” the lead single from Sivan’s upcoming fourth studio album of the same name. The title track’s music video, also directed by Gordon Von Steiner and featuring Nicole Kidman, signaled the start of a new creative era for Sivan. She’s the Best comes out October 9, 2026.
